What an unprofessional company. I applied for a TA roll. Within minutes of applying I received a call on my phone. All good. After a chat, I spent the morning doing some online courses sent by the agency in order to progress with the application. They took all my personal information and then called to offer me an interview which we did via video call due to the snow. Apparently I did well ( although I feel that I don’t interview well at all, some people can talk themselves into a job and are rubbish, I don’t do well but do know my subject!!) Madison told me that she was happy with my interview and asked me to start the following day as a trial, no pay, although I’m sure that got paid!!!! After a lovely day at the school with compliments from the class teacher I was told at 8:30 pm that the school said I was lovely but didn’t think the job was for me… fair enough but wasn’t the feeling that I was given when I finished my first day. I did not sit around but was extremely productive and supportive of the pupils throughout the day. Fast forward to this evening, I have been promised a callback for feedback but have received nothing even after lots attempts to get through to Madison who has been ignoring me all day. Spoke to another colleague ( I think Dennis) who promised me a callback back this afternoon. I am still waiting ( 7:15pm). This company in my opinion are a disgrace and I would act with great caution.
After waiting for the promised call back, I received a text the following morning asking if Madison can call me around 9:45am which I confirmed. No call back. The following day I received a text with a message saying how busy she was and would call me back asap. This was last Friday. I then received my time sheet and thought perhaps I’ll get paid for my time. Fast forward to Tuesday 9 pm. No call back and no pay!!!! They have used me as an extra pair of hands as the school in question were awaiting OFSTED to inspect. Very unprofessional and dishonest behaviour. Be very wary if looking for a professional company as it’s not what you will get!!

Does not even get a one star, I was given an opportunity at one the schools. Unfortunately the staff at that school were unwelcoming really rude. I called them saying I won’t be going back. Voice mail is always full. When I get someone to answer they will say they will call me back. Which then never do. I must have called multiple times but never a response back. This has made me feel they just give you any random place to work in. I was never contacted about my experience at the school which had led me to question this Agency their lack of understanding of peoples wellbeing which every poor and very concerning. So I would say avoid this agency. For the agency I know you’ll read this. You have you chance to get in contact with me but you have not.

Having moved from London to Nottingham and been in my job for 8 years I needed a Agency that would value my experience and skills and take the stress out of getting a new job. I had a bit of a tricky experience at first with this agency, however I was then offered another role by a different person (same agency), and she really went above and beyond to fit me with my perfect role! I have been at the same school for a full term, and about to continue there for the next term. I love the school I have been placed with, and my role is just what I was looking for.
Helen, at Progress Teachers, has been so supportive, and has kept in touch to check in and see how things are going, if I'm still happy, etc, and also has regular communication with the school. I would definitely stick with this agency for any future placements if I needed to.

Bunch of Scammers. Signed me up, made me work in Birmingham School for free. The kids loved me + saw me as a good role model. The lady i spoke to in birmingham Samantha Upton rude when on the phone. Hasnt phoned me in 4 months since i signed up. So wasted my valuable time on getting all the references and getting registered. No work, no communication and rude staff. AVOID THIS TEACHING AGENCY. Beware! Utterly Disappointing and Deceptive Agency.

All the 5 star reviews on their Google page are better & fake. They only have 2 real view on indeed.com & company size is 8 peopl3 so relatively small.

I've encountered numerous teaching agencies in my career, but none have been as unprofessional and deceitful as this one. Here’s my experience, which I hope will save you from the same ordeal:

From the start, they bombarded me with calls, insisting on work references, chasing my past employers, and even making me do a video interview. They dangled the promise of numerous full-time opportunities in front of me, but it was all smoke and mirrors. Once I signed up, their true colors showed:

Uncompensated Work: They made me work a full day trial shift at a school in Birmingham for free. This is unheard of; every other reputable agency I've worked with compensates for trial shifts.
Exploitation for Quotas: It became clear that this agency was just trying to meet some internal quotas or fill their database with names. They weren't interested in genuine employment opportunities for their candidates.
Lack of Support: During the trial, I managed well despite one overly micromanaging TA. I engaged positively with the students, doing both one-to-one and small group sessions. However, after the trial, the agency's consultant called once only to ask how it went, then ghosted me completely. No feedback, no follow-up calls, nothing.
Unprofessional Communication: The complete lack of communication post-trial was not only rude but also highly unprofessional. You expect at least some feedback or closure, especially after dedicating your time and effort.
New and Unconnected: This agency seems to be relatively new, with very few school connections, which explains why they're so desperate to have people work for free under the guise of 'trials.' They clearly do not have the network or reputation to offer legitimate jobs.

My Advice:

Steer clear of this agency. They are not here to support your career but rather to exploit your need for work. If you're looking for teaching or assistant positions in the West Midlands, I would recommend agencies like Zen Education or Teaching Personnel. They have a solid reputation, a broad network of schools, and they treat their candidates with respect and professionalism.

Conclusion: This agency is not worth your time or effort. Protect your career and your dignity by choosing an agency that values you as much as you value education.

My journey started by applying on indeed and within half a day I received a call from the company telling me about a job opportunity working as a teaching assistant in a SEN secondary school. I then jumped onto a quick video call with the loveliest person called Madison, she asked me about my interests, my previous work experience and what skills I have, and if I would be interested in working within a SEN school. She was extremely down to earth and it was like a genuine conversation. For the past 3 months I have been working at the school and Madison has been extremely supportive throughout my experience and boosted my confidence on a number of occasions. I have recently been unwell and was worried about how this may affect my performance and Madison was able to be understanding and provided me reassurance. They are fantastic at supporting people that may have not necessarily came from having experience but focus on the personal skills that you already have and build from there. I am extremely grateful for their support!

I recently joined Progress Teachers and completed all the necessary compliance checks. I was expecting to be contacted for assignments, but I didn't hear from them. When I called, I was informed that the consultant I had been dealing with had left, and I was assured a call back in five minutes. That call never came, and it has now been over a month. I recently sent them an email, but again, no response.

This experience has been a complete waste of time. I was not expecting this level of professionalism from a company at this status.

Fantastic staff and huge thank you to Shauna, who got me working in local school in 3 days from my initial contact and application. She listened and worked with me to get me in as soon as possible but also for the right vacancy. She showed great professionalism and care and I am really happy I am able to work with her and the whole team. Highly recommend and hope for long term professional relationship.

Only been with Progress Teachers a short while as a Teaching Assistant. Ryan found me a position at one school but this feel through as they were unable to give me start date. The next day Ryan found me a position at a school in Lichfield where I’ve been working at since the start of April.
I’ve had loads of support and with regular phone calls from Ryan, which made a change from other agencies I have worked at over the years. Any issues have been dealt with quickly.

Progress Teachers have by far been one of the most hands on agencies I’ve experienced throughout my teaching experience. They’re consistent, ensure that you’re comfortable at all times and they also check in daily to make sure you are happy with your allocation. Most definitely would recommend to all.

Progress Teachers is one of the best agencies to work for 🙂 They have matched me to the right school first time around which I am very impressed by. I liked how they offered a trial day to see if you are a good fit for the school which a lot of other agencies don't offer. I'm pleased to say that I managed to get the role because of the tremendous support, encouragement and helpfulness of both Leigha and Matt. Both are brilliant in their roles of helping me to settle into the school I am currently working at and I can see now they genuinely want to help young people like me to find work as that's been a challenge for me last year. I had very little experience working in a school before joining Progress as I've only just started my career in education, but they still considered me for the role and even offered me a lot more work than my previous one that I no longer work at anymore. Dilon worked so quickly and amazingly. I was with another agency who wouldn’t respond or took a while for me to get through to. I signed up with Progress teachers on a Sunday night, by the Monday morning I’d secured an interview with a school! I recommend anyone who is looking for school work, contact progress Teachers who helped me find work at a school as a temporary caretaker, the agency negotiated the best rate of pay for the role, which i could not refuse.
The agency management kept in contact throughout my time working at the school and was always there if I had any issues which was sorted out on the day.

I have not used Progress Teachers before, I received a call from Hope Kennelly regarding 2 roles that were available Hope explained both roles to me and i decided to take the role that was an immediate start. The school am at is challenging but if I have any concerns I can talk to Hope. The great thing working with Progress Teachers is that they will work around you, finding a role suitable for you. After being with my previous agency for so long, I was ready for a change. I was looking for other jobs that didn't really suit me and I was on the brink of giving up when Ryan from progress teachers rang me. He was so positive and easy to talk to.
